PERFUMES INSPIRED BY PHOTO EMOTIONS
WHERE FRAGRANCE MEETS ART
Flash Back in New York is inspired by Vivienne Gucwa’s timeless midnight photograph of the city blanketed in snow, and created by Perfumer Jérome Epinette.
Flash Back in New York offers an olfactory portrait of NYC. Much like its namesake, Flash Back in New York is full of surprises. Opening with cumin, saffron and sage, the fragrance draws us in with its energetic combination of spices before enveloping us in its delicate heart of jasmine and violet, suffused with the radiant warmth of Tuscan leather. The fragrance swiftly evolves into a slow and graceful movement toward a warm woody and addictive accord of birch tar, papyrus, and vetiver.
Birch tar is a key component of Flash Back in New York.
The raw material is perhaps most well-known for its historical association with Russian leather. Birch bark was used as a part of the waterproofing process and its use imbued Russian leather with its characteristic smokiness. Perfumers, in turn, have long relied on birch tar to evoke the tantalizing aroma of Russian leather in fragrances for both men and women. Blending smoky, tarry and waxy facets and possessing a characteristic warmth, birch tar is as unique as it is complex.
